** Day Dreaming

Many of us are busy raising our families, going to school, managing our careers and struggle to find time for our personal interests and hobbies. Sometimes I feel that we are like wheels that are in a constant state of motion. We are spinning. Occasionally, we stop for a short while, and then start spinning again. Mr. Toastmaster, fellow toastmasters, and welcome guests, what do you do when you stop for that short while? I know what I do. I daydream!

I find daydreaming so relaxing. Imagine after a whole weeks work and study, you finally get a beautiful weekend, and you decide to go to the beach. Beach is the best place to daydream, I believe. Under the blue sky, beside the sea, you put on swimming suit, lay down on the beach, and start daydreaming.
Some daydreams are common. T think every girl dreams of growing up from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan, and falling in love with Princes Charming. As I grew up, I realized that daydream is really nothing, but a daydream. So now I dream about travelling all over the world and eat all kinds of foods. My dream cities include, London, Rome, Sydney and more. Oh, did I forget Paris? the city of culture, fashion and love. Putting on a beautiful summer dress, visiting all the historical sites, and, maybe, companied by someone pleasant. Just dreaming about that can make me so happy. After I wake up from that dream, you feel that all the pressures are gone! With that picture in mind, life seems not so stressful anymore.

However, daydreaming is not only relaxing, it also reflects and directs our life. It changes accordingly through our course in life. For example, when I came to the United States, I have to learn to speak English. Back in China I day dream in Chinese. Now it seems that mydaydreams are partly Chinese and partly English.
Some daydreams can come true when the life changes, such as my dream about Paris. It has not happened yet, but I will make that happen one day since this country provides a great opportunity for everyone to full fill their dreams. Something that was a part of your life could become a daydream. Those dreams can also guide our everyday living. As I read in a poem, "my day dream is here, to haunt my mind, to show my heart the way, to show me who I am". As people day dream. They also try to make their daydreams come true. For them, daydreams are like wings from their soul that give them the strength to live in their dream life. Day dreams wont give up on us.
But be careful, a daydreamer needs to be able to differentiate his or her dreams from reality. Sometimes a dreamer is like a child at play. He has created a world of fantasy which he takes very seriously. He invests in it with lots of emotion while separating it from reality. Dreamers and children are alike in the fact that they are happy when they are daydreaming and playing. They have escaped into their own little world and are living out their imagination or creating their own fantasies. But sometimes children have a hard time distinguishing between what is real and what is only a dream.

Mr. Toastmaster, fellow toastmasters, and welcome guests, I will leave it up to you to decide how much time you want to spend daydreaming and how seriously you want to make your daydreams come true. After all, day dreams are helpful since it gives us the courage to pursuing our goals. This wonderful gift from within us can heal a mountain of hurt feelings, misunderstandings, lack of esteem, and the list goes on. So, if you dont daydream, start now!
